Podiatry Assessments & Treatments for Children in Beenleigh

As children go through different stages of growth, they can encounter various foot problems. While many children will grow out of these problems, you can bring your child to us for an assessment if you don't see signs of improvement.

At Beenleigh Podiatry Centre, we offer caring children's podiatry treatment. Our experienced team can help identify the problem's cause and develop a treatment plan. We understand that children can be apprehensive about treatment, so we do everything we can to make them feel comfortable and relaxed.

Common Foot Concerns in Children

Gait/Walking Problems

Children's bones and muscles are constantly growing and changing, which can result in some variations in gait. In most cases, these variations are nothing to worry about and children will grow out of them naturally. Children can walk with their feet pointed inwards (in-toeing) or outwards (out-toeing), which are a normal part of growth and development. Most children will grow out of these walking styles by age 2, but it can take until age 12. However, if your child is over 3 and still tiptoe walking, it's a good idea to have them assessed by a podiatrist. Tiptoe walking can sometimes be a sign of an underlying condition that needs to be treated.

Skin & Nail Problems

Children's feet are prone to various skin and nail problems, from ingrown toenails and athlete's foot to warts. While many of these conditions can be treated at home, some may require the care of a podiatrist. Ingrown toenails, for example, can often be painful and may lead to infection if not treated properly. Athlete's foot is a fungal infection that can be difficult to get rid of without medical intervention. Meanwhile, warts are caused by a virus and can spread easily from one person to another.
